How To Style A Faux Fur Coat (Without Looking Too Over The Top)
I’ve never been one for faux fur. About four years ago I owned this fuzzy coat and only wore it a handful of times before selling it at consignment. I think I thought I was cool enough to pull it off but yeah…I wasn’t. Fast forward to 2020 and I’m over Jessica’s house and I see she has this cozy soft coat hanging in her apartment. I’m like, excuse me, what is this! No joke, the softest thing I’ve ever touched. She said she wasn’t feeling it for herself and was going to get rid of it. Hell no! I snatched that bad boy up and claimed her as my own immediately. I mean, the pink color is so on-brand for Poor Little It Girl. Plus, it’s freaking adorable! But I still wasn’t sure how to style a faux fur coat without looking too over the top. Don’t worry, I figured it out.
I don’t typically steal clothes from Jessica. Honestly, I can only think of a handful of things I’ve taken from her and they’re usually simple wardrobe essentials like T-shirts and sweaters. This pink faux fur coat is by far the most “trendy” item I’ve claimed as mine. I was actually looking for a dressier coat to wear this season (and into spring) but me being my cheap self, didn’t want to spend any money. Isn’t that what friends closets are for? Ha!

Casual Everyday Faux Fur Coat Look
That’s basically what you see me wearing here today. The faux fur coat is clearly the star of this simple jeans and T-shirt look. And even though faux fur can feel a bit “glam” I really love how it elevates the white tee and distressed denim but I don’t look out of place if that makes sense. Dressed Up Faux Fur Coat Look
When you’re ready for that dressed up faux fur look, go ahead and have some fun with it! I’d say the same rules apply to when you’re wearing a more casual look: have balance. If you’re in a simple black or neutral colored faux fur coat, feel free to experiment with prints and colors with your dress underneath. But if your faux fur coat is a bit more “wild” go for a simple little black dress instead. I’d also suggest that no matter what coat you pick, keep the length to right your hip or your booty. Don’t go for floor length, no matter how cold it is outside. Anything that long may overwhelm your frame and you’ll look like an actual bear walking down the street.
