How to Style a Silk Skirt for Fall by chicute
My friend Jess Ann Kirby asked if I wanted to participate in her September Style Calendar, and I immediately said yes. It’s a brilliant concept: nearly every day in the month of September, she teamed up with another blogger to share ways to wear some of the hottest fall trends over on Instagram. Also, she’s donating to a charity of the blogger’s choice.
Today is my day, and I decided to go with something silky. I love a good silk skirt or silk dress year-round, but I especially adore them for transition dressing. Today, I’m sharing two easy ways to style a silk skirt for fall!
Also: the charity I asked Jess to donate to is Black Girls Code, which is a not-for-profit organization that provides technology training to young black women ages 7 to 17 enter to help them get careers in the STEM field. If you have a spare $5, I would encourage you to donate to this incredible organization!
How to Wear a Silk Skirt in the Fall
With a T-Shirt and Sneakers
This is one of my favorite ways to rock a silk skirt: pair it with a t-shirt and sneakers to dress it down. It’s the perfect transition outfit for in-between weather. If the temps dip below 65, I’ll throw on a denim jacket. It’s cute, comfortable, and a foolproof outfit idea. Don’t be afraid to pair a graphic tee with a printed silk skirt, either. Print mixing is where it’s at!
Also: if you have a silk slip dress, you can easily layer a t-shirt over that as well!
With a Sweater and Booties
When it gets a little colder out, my favorite outfit combo is the silk skirt/sweater/booties combo. You can either layer a cropped sweater over your silk skirt or tuck a regular-length sweater into your bra to make it look cropped. Don’t be afraid to play with colors and patterns here either — the outfit combos are endless!
